DOST intensifies application of GAD concepts through the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines.
Baguio City – Participants from Northern Luzon Cluster had an intensive review of the draft CEST operations manual and other projects proposals using the Generic Checklist from the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG) book, July 30-31, 2018.
The creation of the tool ensures that programs and projects of the government are gender responsive.
HGDG is also designed to check gender issues and mainstream them, and GAD attribution to government programs.
In support to the program, DOST 02 Regional Director Sancho A. Mabborang brought out his plan to organize a GAD Committee spearheaded by DOST 02 under the approval of the Regional Development Council (RDC).
With members from other regions, the committee shall aim to be recognized not only in the organizational level, but in the entire region.
“We would like to be a GAD champion”, he said.
Meanwhile, lectures and workshops were led by GAD Consultants and Philippine Council of Women (PCW) members, Ms. Maria Fe. B. Singson and Ms. Reina P. Olivar.
The two-day activity was attended by representatives from DOST CAR, 1, 2, and from the Philippines Science High School (PSHS) CAR, Cagayan Valley, Ilocos, and Central Luzon campuses.
